Luxury Honeymoon in Nepal

Luxury Honeymoon in Nepal

Are you looking for a more unique, luxury honeymoon that will be exhilarating, engaging, inspiring and help support local people and the environment? If so, we can highly recommend a honeymoon in Nepal.

Nepal is a country with fascinating culture and warm and welcoming people. It has some of the world's most spellbinding and famous mountain scenery, its safari areas are some of the best places in the world to see Tigers, and there are beautiful boutique hotels to choose from.

Unique Luxury Honeymoon in Nepal

Curious Travel and our local partners know Nepal inside. We create honeymoons that combine adventure, wellness, gastronomy, gorgeous hotels and endless beautiful scenery - perfect for couples in search of something special to celebrate their commitment.

This 16-day itinerary idea showcases an idea for a luxury honeymoon in Nepal where you go Safari to spot Rhinos and Tigers, take a helicopter into the Himalayas to see some of the world's highest mountains, hike on remote trails, visit local communities, spoil yourselves at a wellness retreat, relax in luxury accommodations and engage in a wealth of cultural experiences.

KATHMANDU

Start in Kathmandu, Nepal's fascinating capital. Stay at Dwarika's hotel, a stunning heritage property with gorgeous rooms and fantastic service. The restaurant and spa are the perfect places to indulge after a long flight. For a more boutique option with lots of history, we also really like Baber Mahal Villas, and if you want to be located in the nightlife and shopping area of Thamel, we like the cute mid-range option of Nepali Ghar or the famous Kathmandu Guest House with its fascinating Museum of Nepali Art.

BUDDHIST BLESSING CEREMONY & MEET A LIVING GODDESS

We would love to take you to Seto Gompa, where you can embrace Nepal's spiritual side, and we can have a monk perform a blessing ceremony. After this, we will take you to explore some of Kathmandu's important temples, including Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. You'll visit the stunning Patan Durbar Square, one of 3 royal squares in Kathmandu, famed for its temples, monuments and festivals. At Patan Durbar Square, you'll enter Kumari Ghar, a place of worship on the square, where you'll be blessed again, this time by a living Goddess known as Kumari and learn about this fascinating and, for some, contentious tradition.

RICKSHAW TOUR

Embrace local transport as you explore Kathmandu's markets by rickshaw. Get lost in Asan Bazaar, one of the city's oldest and most famous markets. It's a lively spot with a permanent buzz of locals and tourists picking up souvenirs and foodstuffs. You'll also explore Indra Chowk, a square packed with stalls and people.

SAFARI IN CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK

Fly to Chitwan for an unforgettable safari in the park's forest and marshland. Chitwan was the first National Park to be established in Nepal and is home to tigers, rhinos, monkeys, sloth bears and an abundance of bird species. We love the Barahi Jungle Lodge, which, as well as beautiful accommodations located on the river, has a focus on sustainability and authenticity and has done a lot of work to regenerate the local area. If you are looking for more luxury and more modern sophistication, there is also the Taj Hotel, Meghauli Serai.

CULTURAL EXPERIENCES IN CHITWAN

In the Chitwan area, you can explore a local Tharu village, engage with local people and learn about life for this ethnic group in Nepal and within the National Park. Once back at the lodge, you can enjoy sundowners, where you'll be treated to a Tharu dance performance.

JEEP SAFARIS AND JUNGLE WALKS

The undeniable highlight of a trip to Chitwan National park is the wildlife. Explore by jeep, canoe and on foot, searching for one-horned rhinos, rhesus monkeys, crocodiles, tigers, elephants and antelopes. The local guides are adept at spotting and tracking wildlife, and you'll be in good hands. End your day of wildlife spotting with a bush dinner prepared by a private chef and served by a private butler.

RIVER FLOAT & SUNDOWNERS

After a day of Safari, guests can enjoy a relaxing and romantic river float by wooden boat down the river ending with sundowners and snacks on the river sandbanks to watch the sunset and enjoy the view of the river and jungle.

BARDIA NATIONAL PARK

For a more off-the-beaten-path wildlife safari, replace Chitwan with Bardia National Park. If you have more time, why not do both! We really love Bardia as it is less visited, offers more opportunities to visit, stay with and engage with the local Tharu communities and is a huge success story for increasing the number of tigers in the national park. Nepal has successfully achieved a global commitment to the St. Petersburg tiger summit to double the number of wild tigers by 2022. A census report in 2022 shows that there are 125 Tigers in Bardiya National Park

For honeymooners, we recommend staying in the Signature Rooms at Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge or, for something really special and unique, the mobile glamping offered by Burnan Wilderness CampsThere are also several mid-range options dedicated to sustainability and also some great homestays.

Spend time with the locals, experiencing daily life in this rural village. Learn about the region's history with Nepal's last ruling royal family, visit the primary school and learn about the recruitment process for the Gurkha soldiers. In the evening, you'll be treated to a cultural show hosted by a local women's organisation. Enjoy the spectacle and sip on locally distilled 'hooch' as you're welcomed into the village as a visitor.

nepal honeymoon in pokhara

POKHARA - VISIT THE HIMALAYAS

Lakeside Pokhara is Nepal's adventure capital, with jaw-dropping mountain scenery to boot. Come here for an adrenaline fix and unwind by the water in the evenings. For traditional luxury with a sustainable edge, stay at The Pavilions Himalayas Farm. The individual villas are tucked away in a forested valley with the Himalayas as a backdrop. Another great luxury and sustainable option are Pavilions The Farm, and a new luxury option is opening soon...

PARAGLIDING OVER LAKE PHEWA

We did this paragliding experience when we were last in Pokhara and just loved it! There are many experienced guides that can take you on a stunning tandem Paragliding flight, but we love to book you with some friends of ours, which include some amazing female paragliding instructors.

BOATING ON PHEWA LAKE

Cross the glittering waters of Phewa Lake, surrounded by forested hills. Relax and enjoy views of Fishtail mountain and other snow-capped peaks reflected in the water.

EXPLORE DEVI'S FALL & GUPTESWORE CAVE

Pokhara is stunning. And its lakes and mountains are an exhilarating playground for adventures. Explore Devi's Fall, where the river disappears into an underground canal beneath the falls. You can't hop in for a swim here (the falls get their name from a hiker that fell in and disappeared, so that should give you some idea), but it's a beautiful spot. Then visit Gupteswore Cave, one of the largest caves in Pokhara that's dedicated to Lord Shiva.

WORLD PEACE PAGODA & TEMPLES OF POKHARA

Start with a visit to the Bindabashini Temple, an important place of worship among Pokhara's Hindu population. People flock here daily to pray and sacrifice animals to the Hindu deity Durga, a bloodthirsty goddess. Weddings are also commonplace here. Continue to the World peace Pagoda, a Buddhist stupa that was idealised by Nichidatsu Fuji, a devotee of Mahatma Gandhi. After a meeting with Gandhi in 1931, he dedicated his life to promoting peace and started building shrines and peace pagodas to support his mission. Pokhara's World Peace Pagoda sits high above Phewa Lake on a narrow ridge and enjoys incredible views over the Annapurna Mountains. After your visit to the temple, hike down to the lakeshore and cross the lake by boat, making a final stop at the Barahi temple. End the day with a candlelit dinner on the lakeshore.

UPPER MUSTANG - JEEP, HIKE OR BIKE MORE REMOTE HIMALAYAS

KALI GANDAKI VALLEY

This is mountain country, and a spectacular flight sets the scene for your time in Mustang's Kali Gandaki valley. You'll land at Jomsom airport, ready for a jeep drive into the valley, stopping at villages and passing plentiful fruit orchards. Stay at the luxury Moksha Mustang (soon to be renovated) or Thalang Village Lodge, a simple lodge that's perched on a hilltop and surrounded by dramatic peaks that'll take your breath away. The views are simply magical.

Spend your time here relaxing, soaking in the views and walking in the foothills and visiting local monasteries before embarking on the ultimate part of your trip - a 3-day helicopter adventure around some of Nepal's biggest peaks, including Everest, Cho Oyu and other 8,000m+ mountains in the Himalayas and Annapurna range.

3-DAY HIMALAYAS HELICOPTER EXPEDITION TO EVEREST

DAY 1 - FLIGHT FROM KALI GANDAKI TO KATHMANDU VIA ANNAPURNA

You'll also fly past Annapurna, the world's 10th-highest mountain, enjoying views of the impressive gorge below, which is 5 times deeper than the Grand Canyon. Continue east to Kathmandu, passing Mt Manaslu (8,163m) and a handful of 7,000 and 6,000m peaks. Stay in Kathmandu for the night.

DAY 2 - FLIGHT FROM KATHMANDU TO NAMCHE BAZAAR

Fly to the eastern edge of Nepal and take in striking views of Kanchenjunga (8,586m) and Makalu (8,481m). Land in Namche Bazaar, a bustling hub and the starting point for treks to Everest base camp and beyond. At 3,608m, Namche Bazaar is a great place to begin acclimatisation for higher treks.

Stay in a small lodge outside of the main village that's owned by Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, a photographer, activist and manager of the Sherpa Cultural Museum and Everest Documentation Centre. He's a man with some incredible stories of the mountains and adventurers who've passed through Namche Bazaar - if you want to spend some time with Lhakpa, the team can arrange for him to join you for dinner.

DAY 3 - FLIGHT FROM NAMCHE BAZAAR TO KATHMANDU VIA EVEREST AND LUKLA

Depart early in the morning for an unforgettable flight to see Mount Everest (8,848m). You'll also pass Lhotse (8,502m). If authorities allow, you'll land at Kalapathar, a viewpoint that sits above Everest Base Camp and provides incredible mountain views.

Continue flying into the Gokyo Valley for views over the shimmering waters of Gokyo Lakes. Finally, soar above the Ngozumba Glacier on Cho Oyu (8,201m) and prepare to land at Everest View Hotel for a champagne breakfast. Once the experience has been toasted, you'll fly to Dhulikhel, stopping in Lukla to refuel.

If you are not interested in this 3-day Helicopter Expedition, we can reduce it to a be just one day of flying to somewhere stunning. YOu can also replace this with additional days hiking, trekking or biking in the stunning Mustang region.

Throughout your stay, you'll be thoroughly pampered and ready to return home. You can even land here in your helicopter following on from your Everest adventure.
