Mexico Luxury Vacation in Yucatan

Mexico Luxury Vacation in Yucatan

A luxury 8-day itinerary around the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico full of archaeology, wildlife, beach and adventure - with some luxurious relaxation time at the end of the trip. Explore and Enjoy!

Day 1: Merida & Chable Yucatan

You will be greeted at the airport and privately transferred to your stunning luxury hotel close to Merida and will have the afternoon on your own at leisure.  Enjoy the spa, cycle the grounds and relax at the pool.

We recommend three nights at Chable Resort & Spa.

Additional activities include gardening with Chable’s resident horticulturist, bicycling the resorts’ many trails, cooking lessons in Mayan cooking techniques, and morning yoga by the cenote.

Day 2:  Uxmal & Kabah archaeological sites

Explore the ancient Maya city of Uxmal, with its rounded architecture and intricate latticework before heading to the archaeological zone of Kabah to see the Palace of the Masks. Your guide will lead you in your exploration as you learn that the importance of the rain was a common feature for both cities. Learn about the myth of the Pyramid of the Magician at Uxmal and learn the identifying features of Chaac, the rain god in Kabah during this full day of Maya archaeology.

Day 3: Biosphere Reserve of Celestun and Merida City Tour

Home to 2,000 or more pink flamingos, Celestún is a great place for nature lovers. Taking a boat ride down this salt-water lagoon, you will see the great variety of flora and fauna that naturally thrive there and have a chance to swim in the freshwaters.

Discover the historical centre of the city Mérida, the capital of the state of Yucatán. You will learn about Merida’s history and contemporary importance, as you explore the Zócalo, the cathedral and the Monument of the Homeland, before heading down El Paseo de Montejo, with its grand, colonial buildings.

Day 4:  Visit a Hammocks Artisan’s Home workshop in Tixkokob & Izamal

Today we will start with a visit to the traditional Maya village of Tixkokob to see how local families still practise the age-old tradition of hammock weaving. One of the most valued handcrafts made by the indigenous communities in the Yucatan Peninsula is the hammock, they represent more than 700 families in the area. Most of the hammocks for sale in Yucatan are handmade in family workshops. En route to Izamal and Chichen Itza, you will stop at Tixkokob, a rural community located 30 minutes east of Merida. This is a town famous for its high-quality hammock waving; you are here to meet a local artisan at his family’s workshop. Today you will discover from the expert the secrets and “techniques” to best lie in a hammock and mostly you will experience a close encounter with the artisan culture while you observe, learn and optionally participate in a demonstration of their craft.

Afterwards, you will continue on to the Magic Town of Izamal to have lunch (not included) and explore the mysterious Yellow City before continuing on to your charming Lodge nestled in the garden on the UNESCO Heritage Site of Chichen Itza. Overnight at the Lodge at Chichen in a Royal Mayan Bungalow.

Day 5:  Chichen Itza & Mayan Cenote

Today we will enter the famed archaeological site of Chichen Itza upon its opening to learn about its impressive plazas, imposing ball courts, and temples as well as the Maya’s engineering, agricultural, and astronomical achievements. The Yucatan Peninsula is a limestone shelf; due to the lack of elevation and the incredible porosity of the soil, there are no rivers in the Yucatan! As water drains easily through the limestone, it forms a vast network of underground rivers and sinkholes that feature crystal clear water, eye-less fish, and interesting stalagmites and stalactites and offers an unusual swimming adventure in the distilled light of these underground caves! After our refreshing swim and lunch (not included) we will continue on to your stunning luxury hotel located on the idyllic Caribbean Coast with its crystalline blue waters. 3 Nights at Nizuc Resort & Spa in a Garden Suite

Day 6:  Catamaran Sailing to Isla Mujeres

Explore the open sea in this half-day, private catamaran sailing trip that will take you around the bay of Cancun and Isla Mujeres. You can swim or snorkel around the second largest coral reef in the world or simply enjoy the ride with a cold drink in hand. We return for lunch (not included) and the rest of the evening on your own at leisure.

Day 7 : Beach Time!

This day is yours to enjoy at leisure. You may relax in your lovely surroundings and take advantage of the many amenities and activities available in Riviera Maya or just lay back in the white sands and turquoise seas.

Optional suggested Activities:

  • Private tour to Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve

  • Rio Secreto Expedition

  • Snorkelling or Scuba diving in Mayan Cenote

Day 8:  Departure from Cancun

After breakfast and hotel check out, you will be privately transferred to the Cancun airport for your homeward-bound flight.
